The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), part of the UN Secretariat, seeks a Researcher on Transport and Logistics. This role supports IGM's work by generating evidence-based insights on mobility, supply chains, and infrastructure performance within the Arab region. The position is based in Beirut and operates on a hybrid work model for an expected duration of three months.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide research and analytical support to IGM's initiatives in transport and logistics within the Arab region. The researcher will generate evidence-based insights to inform policy and operational decisions by conducting data analysis, reviewing sector trends, and contributing to research outputs on mobility, supply chains, and infrastructure. Key contributions include preparing comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and technical documents, undertaking specific analyses, and assisting with project management tasks. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with IGM's research standards and objectives, ultimately enhancing the understanding and strategic direction of transport and logistics in the region.
Responsibilities
The researcher will conduct comprehensive research and analysis on transport and logistics activities across the Arab region, including data collection and summarization. Key duties involve preparing high-quality reports, policy briefs, and technical outputs that align with IGM's standards and project objectives. The role requires undertaking specific analyses on selected transport and logistics subjects, preparing background research, and assisting in project management tasks. Additionally, the researcher will participate in delivering required activities, prepare statistical tables and graphs, and support the creation of presentations and background substantive material. Translation of transport-related deliverables and performing any other tasks assigned by the supervisor are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in research, data collection, and analysis is required. Additionally, two years of experience specifically in transport and logistics, with a focus on road safety issues within the Arab region, is desirable.
