Job Purpose
This six-month, part-time, unpaid internship at the UNODC Programme Office in Bishkek aims to support the implementation of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-2027. The intern will contribute to strengthening strategic engagement with UN partners by assisting in organizing meetings, events, and conferences. A key purpose is to facilitate communication efforts through drafting training materials, supporting social media campaigns, and developing communication content showcasing achievements. The role also involves critical support for data collection, web research, and analysis on science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development, enhancing the office's knowledge base. Furthermore, the intern will provide essential operational assistance across finance, procurement, HR, and general administration, including archiving. This position directly contributes to UNODC's mandate in Kyrgyzstan, addressing issues like drugs, organized crime, corruption, and criminal justice reform, thereby supporting regional stability and development initiatives.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide comprehensive support for the implementation of activities under the UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-2027. This includes significant involvement in event management, specifically assisting with the organization of meetings, conferences, and side events designed to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners. A core duty involves communication and content development, where the intern will provide general support in processing, drafting, and finalizing various training materials. They will also actively assist in social media campaigns and contribute to developing communication materials that effectively showcase good practices, impactful examples, and key achievements of the programme. Furthermore, the role entails substantial research and data management responsibilities, such as assisting in the collection of data related to science, technology, and innovation practices. The intern will conduct web research and provide analytical insights on science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development issues, ensuring accurate data entry into relevant databases. Finally, the intern will offer essential operational support across multiple administrative functions, including finance, procurement, human resources, and general office administration. Archiving duties will involve preparing procurement materials for proper storage, registering archived files, and maintaining an up-to-date register of all archived documentation.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship. However, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of its Charter. The ability to successfully interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, showing willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views, is also required.

Computer literacy in standard software applications. Strong interest in UN work and commitment to its Charter ideals. Ability to interact successfully with diverse cultural backgrounds, demonstrating tolerance and understanding. Fluency in English and Russian (spoken and written); knowledge of Kirghiz desirable.
