Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a Consultant for Social Enterprise Development and Community Engagement. This role will be based in Islamabad, Pakistan, and will focus on supporting youth leadership and social enterprise development within university settings. The consultancy is home-based with potential for local travel.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver training modules and provide mentoring to university students in social enterprise development, community engagement, and youth leadership. The role contributes to fostering youth-led initiatives and social enterprise concepts, ultimately supporting their development through university incubation processes. The consultant will also be responsible for assessing student progress, documenting outcomes, and providing recommendations for the sustainability and scalability of these initiatives within the university context. This aims to enhance youth employability, social cohesion, and community resilience.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver comprehensive training modules on social enterprise, community engagement, and youth leadership tailored for university students. Conduct rapid context reviews to understand university and community needs. Design and refine practical learning materials, including facilitator notes, participant handouts, exercises, and assessment tools. Provide direct mentoring and coaching to student teams to develop their initiatives and social enterprise concepts. Facilitate interactive sessions, case studies, and group work to enhance learning. Support the linkage of student teams with incubation and innovation support mechanisms. Promote inclusive participation, especially for women and marginalized youth. Coordinate with university staff, UNODC, and other stakeholders. Develop and administer assessments, track attendance, and document student outputs. Prepare progress updates and a final consultancy report detailing results, challenges, and recommendations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in entrepreneurship development, livelihoods, social innovation, youth leadership, policy advisory, or community development is required. Experience in designing and delivering training, mentorship programs, incubation support, or youth capacity building is essential. Experience working with universities, government, UN agencies, private sector, or civil society is desirable.
