Organizational Context
The UNODC Programme Office in Tajikistan, Dushanbe, operates under the UNODC Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan (ROCA). It supports national authorities in addressing drug trafficking, organized crime, terrorism, and related security challenges through technical assistance, capacity building, and policy support. The office strengthens Tajikistan’s law enforcement, justice, security, and health systems, promoting regional cooperation.
Job Purpose
This internship provides crucial support to the UNODC Programme Office in Tajikistan, Dushanbe, contributing to the implementation of activities within the UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-2027. The role assists in organizing meetings, preparing training materials, managing social media campaigns, and developing communication materials. It also involves data collection and analysis on science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development, as well as supporting operational functions like finance, procurement, HR, and general administration. The intern will gain practical experience in program implementation and operational support within an international organization focused on combating drug trafficking and organized crime.
Responsibilities
Provide support for organizing meetings, events, and conferences to enhance strategic engagement with UN system partners. Offer general assistance in processing, drafting, and finalizing training materials. Aid in social media campaigns and the development of communication materials highlighting best practices and achievements. Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development issues. Support operational functions, including finance, procurement, human resources, and general administration. Help with archiving by preparing, registering, and updating records of procurement materials and files.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must be students in the final year of a bachelor's degree program or higher, or have recently completed such a program. A field of study closely related to the internship's focus is necessary. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds is also required.
Skills
Computer literacy in standard software applications. Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals. Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian. Knowledge of Tajik is desirable.
