Organizational Context
The Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the United Nations Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) supports the Secretary-General's efforts to strengthen the UN's response to sexual exploitation and abuse across peacekeeping, humanitarian, development, and human rights sectors. This internship role is based in New York.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the United Nations Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) in its mission to enhance the UN's strategies against sexual exploitation and abuse. The intern will contribute to research, data analysis, and the implementation of advocacy and communication campaigns. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in policy development, legal research, and general office support within a critical UN mandate, contributing to the organization's commitment to accountability and reform in sensitive areas.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, including data collection and analysis. Support the implementation of internal and external advocacy, communication strategies, and campaigns using web-based tools. Provide general office support, including drafting and processing correspondence. Assist in preparing, updating, and maintaining presentations and other communication materials. Potentially support legal and policy research, including comparative analysis and drafting related to UN accountability frameworks and policy documents on sexual exploitation and abuse, adhering to international law. Undertake other assigned responsibilities as required.

Skills
Computer literacy in standard software applications. Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals. Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, demonstrating tolerance for differing opinions.
