Job Purpose
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in infrastructure and facilities management at the United Nations Office at Geneva. The intern will support the Facilities Management Section by contributing to the maintenance, preservation, and technical documentation of the Palais des Nations and its annexes. The role involves a combination of site-based activities, technical documentation, and coordination, offering exposure to building maintenance, asset management, and infrastructure projects within an international and multicultural setting. The intern will gain knowledge of infrastructure management in a historic campus, including relevant technical standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
The intern will participate in on-site inspections, building assessments, and technical walk-throughs to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Responsibilities include assisting in updating architectural drawings, building plans, and technical documentation using site surveys and AutoCAD. The intern will also support the verification and updating of building inventories, technical databases, and infrastructure records. Additionally, the role involves assisting technicians and artisans with coordination, inventory, and documentation, including work on historical furniture and heritage elements. The intern will gain practical knowledge of infrastructure management, including SIA and AEAI standards, and assist with ad hoc technical and administrative tasks for ongoing projects.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, academic exposure or knowledge in building maintenance, facilities management, construction, or building systems is desirable. Familiarity with AutoCAD is required, with knowledge of Revit being a plus.
