Job Purpose
This Junior Landscape Architect role provides essential technical support to UN-Habitat Jordan's Head of Country office, project managers, and the project team. The primary purpose is to contribute to the delivery of key technical outputs aimed at strengthening the agency's programmatic approach to advancing greening and resilience in cities. This includes supporting projects like 'Rethinking Sahab' by developing a Green Public Space Plan and assisting with vegetation planning, as well as contributing to the 'Smart Urban Water Management' project through workshop reports, hydrological assessments, toolkit reviews, and design finalization for implementation. The role is crucial for enhancing urban environments and building climate resilience.
Responsibilities
The Junior Landscape Architect will be responsible for producing key project deliverables, including the Sahab's Green Public Space Plan Report and Knowledge Exchange Workshop Reports. They will conduct Hydrological Assessments for selected public spaces and review the 'Typologies of Urban Green Infrastructure' Toolkit. A significant part of the role involves supporting the finalization of designs and overseeing the implementation of sites for various urban greening and water management projects. This includes providing technical support to the project team to ensure the successful delivery of outputs that strengthen the agency’s programmatic approach to advancing greening and resilience in cities, contributing to improved socio-economic conditions and environmental quality.
Work Experience
Up to two years of relevant experience in landscape architecture, agricultural engineering, or a related field is required. Experience with greening practices is essential. Experience working with international development organizations is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in landscape architecture and greening practices. Ability to conduct research, analysis, and synthesis. Competency with office software packages (Adobe, MS Word, Excel). Strong written and oral communication skills. Fluency in English and Arabic.
