Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the effective preparation, coordination, and follow-up of AMCEN activities, including ministerial sessions, Bureau meetings, and the implementation of AMCEN decisions. The role is crucial for ensuring the AMCEN Secretariat operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to environmental policy guidance and action across the African continent. The incumbent will provide essential support to African countries engaged in regional multilateral environmental processes and other UNEP Africa Office initiatives, fostering sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include preparing an inception report and work plan, drafting technical documents such as briefs, reports, and policy notes, and preparing meeting documentation including agendas, summaries, and outcomes. The role also involves preparing monthly progress reports and a final report that summarizes all outputs and recommendations. This position directly supports the AMCEN Secretariat's mandate and contributes to the effective functioning of regional environmental governance in Africa.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental policy development, associated natural resource management, and ecosystem management is required. Experience supporting regional multilateral environmental processes is also necessary.
