Technical Support Analyst
Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development and adequate housing for all. The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This role supports a project in Belo Horizonte focused on improving municipal infrastructure and tools for social housing and urban planning in the Izidora neighborhood.
Job Purpose
This role serves to provide technical support for the implementation of the "Urban Qualification in a Key Neighborhood of Belo Horizonte" project. The purpose is to ensure the effective execution of the work program, contributing to the transformation of the Izidora neighborhood into a model of sustainability and resilience. The analyst will support the development and analysis of various urban projects, engage with the community, and prepare reports, ultimately enabling safe and sustainable access to community infrastructure and affordable housing for the Izidora population, aligning with the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The Technical Support Analyst will actively participate in and support sustainable urbanization projects in Izidora. Key duties include analyzing earthmoving, geometric, and pavement projects for road systems, as well as containment and drainage projects for informal settlements. The role also involves analyzing urbanistic and architectural projects, and assessing budgets for urbanization initiatives. Additionally, the analyst will engage with the Izidora community, attend meetings and conferences with UN-Habitat partners, and prepare various reports at different project stages. The position requires adherence to deadlines and may involve other duties assigned by the supervisor, including mandatory security training.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of progressive experience in project/programme management related to urban themes in Brazil is required. Experience in social housing policies, plans, and projects, as well as sustainable urbanization for informal settlements, is also necessary. Desirable experience includes geometric design, earthmoving/land and paving projects, urban infrastructure project budgeting, slope containment and stabilization, drainage, land-use projects, and prior UN system experience.
Skills
Required skills include good computer proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and web search engines. Desirable skills encompass handling technological tools, software, and online platforms, along with knowledge of project management methodologies. Strong communication, planning, organization, and teamwork abilities are essential.
