Organizational Context
The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) operates under the Office of the Assistant Secretary General (OASG) to investigate and prosecute serious international crimes in Syria. This Social Media Intern role is situated within the OASG, supporting the Head of the IIIM in strategic, operational, and external implementation of its mandate. The internship is based in Geneva.
Job Purpose
The Social Media Intern will support the Office of the Assistant Secretary General (OASG) of the IIIM in its digital outreach efforts. This role is crucial for managing the IIIM's social media presence across various platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The intern will assist in scheduling content, drafting posts, and developing multimedia assets to align with organizational priorities, campaigns, and events. A key aspect of the role involves monitoring social media trends, promoting IIIM's reports and initiatives, and contributing to the measurement and evaluation of digital communication impact. The intern will also prepare analytics reports to inform senior leadership and support the overall communication strategy of the Mechanism.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing the IIIM's social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, WhatsApp) and scheduling content aligned with organizational priorities. The intern will draft social media posts for review and approval, and support the creation of multimedia content such as graphics and short videos. Daily social media monitoring and summarization of relevant developments are required. The role involves promoting events, reports, and campaigns through digital channels, and assisting in the measurement and evaluation of digital outreach activities. The intern will contribute to reporting on communications impact to senior leadership and prepare regular analytics reports and dashboards. Additional digital communications tasks as assigned to support the OASG and IIIM are also expected.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, familiarity with social media platforms and their content formats is essential. Experience with content creation tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge of social media management tools such as Hootsuite, are also required.
