Responsibilities
The Senior Finance and Budget Assistant is responsible for a range of budget and finance functions. This includes acting as a Certifying Officer, reviewing and preparing programme plans, cost estimates, and budget proposals, ensuring compliance with legislative mandates. The role involves monitoring budget implementation, expenditures, and extra-budgetary resources, as well as reviewing requisitions for goods and services. In finance, responsibilities include analyzing complex accounting transactions, reconciling investments, cash, and revenue, and auditing various accounting transactions like payroll and travel claims. The assistant will also contribute to year-end closing processes, prepare financial statements, provide guidance and training to staff, and supervise general service staff when required. Additionally, the role involves responding to queries from auditors and staff, and assisting with data analysis and reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, or administrative services is required. This is reduced to eight years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Experience with Microsoft Excel, SAP software, and overseeing financial operations for large entities is essential. Experience working with auditors is desirable.
