Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the Digital Technology and Human Rights (DTHR) section of the OHCHR in its mission to protect human rights for all. The intern will contribute to various aspects of the section's work, including research, analysis, and documentation related to digital technology and human rights. The role is designed to provide practical experience in human rights work, assisting in the preparation of reports, background materials, and supporting meetings and workshops. The intern will gain exposure to thematic and regional issues, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, contributing to the overall goal of empowering people and assisting rights-holders and duty-bearers.

Responsibilities

The intern will provide crucial support to the Digital Technology and Human Rights (DTHR) section. Key duties include researching and analyzing thematic and regional issues concerning digital technology and human rights. The intern will assist in drafting and summarizing reports, background materials, and other relevant documents. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to supporting the preparation and servicing of meetings, seminars, and workshops, which involves preparing documentation and drafting notes. The intern will also undertake other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the section's operational effectiveness and human rights mandate.

Work Experience

No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, prior knowledge or experience in human rights, digital rights, or the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is considered desirable and would be beneficial.

Skills

Research and analysis, report drafting and summarization, meeting preparation and support, understanding of human rights, digital rights, and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (desirable), fluency in English, knowledge of French or another UN language (desirable).
