Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. The Industry and Economy Division promotes sustainable consumption and production patterns. The Chemicals and Health Branch leads the sub-programme on Chemicals, Waste and Air Quality. The role supports the ISP-CWP Interim Secretariat, an independent intergovernmental body established to strengthen the science-policy interface on chemicals, waste, and pollution.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the ISP-CWP Interim Secretariat in its communications and outreach efforts, as well as in meeting preparation and general secretariat operations. The intern will contribute to raising awareness and sharing information about the Panel's work, assisting in the development of various communication materials and engaging with diverse stakeholders. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in international environmental policy and science communication within a UN framework, contributing to the Panel's mission of delivering policy-relevant scientific evidence.
Responsibilities
Support the ISP-CWP Interim Secretariat in preparatory work for upcoming Panel sessions. Assist in drafting a variety of communication materials, including fact sheets, infographics, banners, brochures, posters, presentation templates, and outreach messages. Contribute to awareness-raising and information-sharing activities by drafting web content and updating the Panel's website. Help prepare communication materials for intergovernmental meetings and stakeholder consultations. Support the development of outreach materials tailored for governments, scientists, civil society organizations, and international partners.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a strong academic background in a relevant field and proficiency in computer software applications are essential. Experience with graphic design and communication-related software is considered highly desirable.
