Fleet Management Consultant

Organizational Context

The UN Secretariat, specifically UNRWA's Administration & Support Services in Headquarters Amman, seeks a Fleet Management Consultant. This role is based in Amman for an expected duration of 6 months. The consultant will focus on developing agency-wide fleet standardization plans and establishing performance monitoring mechanisms.

Job Purpose

The Fleet Management Consultant will be instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive, agency-wide fleet standardization plan. This includes establishing robust performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as utilization, downtime, and fuel efficiency. The role supports the deployment of new fleet management tools, aiming to optimize fleet operations, enhance long-term sustainability, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. The consultant will provide technical guidance and support across all field operations, contributing to efficient resource management and operational effectiveness within the UNRWA administration.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain fleet policies, procedures, standards, and operational guidelines, leading fleet planning for acquisition, replacement, disposal, and standardization. Establish and manage fleet performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms, monitoring utilization, downtime, fuel efficiency, and KPIs. Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring accurate asset records and supporting replacement plans. Implement fuel management standards and monitoring systems to control consumption and costs. Ensure compliance with fleet safety policies, registration, insurance, and licensing requirements. Manage fleet information systems, telematics, and GPS tracking platforms, promoting digitalization and automation. Serve as the HQ focal point for fleet management, providing technical advice, training, and support to field operations, and facilitating knowledge sharing.

Work Experience

A minimum of six years of relevant work experience is required, encompassing mechanical engineering, supply/transport operations, and staff management. Experience in fleet management, including planning, policy development, performance monitoring, and system implementation, is essential.
