Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is implementing the second phase of the Global Textiles and Apparel Programme (GTEX) and the Textiles for the Middle East and North Africa Region Programme (MENATEX). These programs, co-funded by the Swiss and Swedish governments, aim to boost exports in the textile and apparel sector across Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Sri Lanka, with a focus on sustainability and circularity. The role is based in Morocco, supporting the National Programme Coordinator and liaising with the ITC headquarters in Geneva.
Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the National Programme Coordinator in Morocco for the GTEX/MENATEX phase II program. The primary purpose is to assist in the management and implementation of project activities, focusing on logistics, administrative processes, communication, research, monitoring, and evaluation. The consultant will contribute to the program's objective of transforming the textile industry towards greater sustainability and circularity, thereby enhancing competitiveness, creating jobs, and reducing poverty, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. The role involves detailed task execution under the supervision of both the Geneva-based Project Manager and the National Programme Coordinator for Morocco.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for several key areas. In Monitoring and Evaluation, duties include conducting research, collecting statistics on employment and exports in the Moroccan textile sector, supporting activity implementation by drafting documents, tracking participants, and ensuring reporting tools are updated. For Communication, responsibilities involve developing and executing a communication plan, managing social media, writing articles, creating content, supporting media relations, and maintaining a photo/video library. In terms of Research and Analysis, the consultant will monitor industry trends and map stakeholders in sustainability and circularity. Finally, in Logistics and Administration, tasks include managing service provider requests, facilitating procurement processes, and liaising with ITC headquarters for contract follow-up.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in communication and/or project management is required. Experience in development project management in Morocco or knowledge of the textile and apparel sector is also necessary. Experience in managing press/media relations and social media is expected.
Skills
Interpersonal skills, ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, strong analytical and synthesis skills, excellent communication and writing abilities, expertise in developing and implementing communication strategies, ability to create graphic and written content, knowledge of the textile sector and its ecosystem, proven experience in media relations and social media management, and proficiency in administrative follow-up.
