Responsibilities
The intern will undertake a range of duties supporting the Operational Activities Policy Branch, contributing to the effective functioning of intergovernmental processes. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive research on relevant topics in sustainable development and operational activities for the UN development system. This involves gathering and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, and preparing compelling data visualizations and infographics based on statistical results to present findings effectively for reports and presentations. The role also entails actively supporting the development and roll-out of surveys focused on operational activities for development within the UN system, contributing to data collection and analysis efforts. Furthermore, the intern will assist in the logistical and substantive organization of high-level panels and seminars for the General Assembly and ECOSOC, including preparing concise summaries of their outcomes to inform stakeholders. Support for informal consultations on intergovernmental legislation is also a key duty, requiring attention to detail and timely input. The intern will monitor various intergovernmental meetings within ECOSOC and the General Assembly, preparing concise draft summaries of intergovernmental discussions and consultations as required, ensuring timely and accurate reporting for senior officials and Member States. Additional tasks may arise on short notice, reflecting the dynamic support required for high-level UN system officials and Member States.
