Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality, professional photographic services to document UN events, field visits, programme activities, and official engagements in Turkmenistan. The photographer will capture compelling images that enhance storytelling, media outreach, reporting, and digital engagement, ensuring all outputs align with UN communication standards and branding. This includes pre-shoot preparation, on-site photography, post-production editing, and timely delivery of optimized image sets with captions and metadata. The role contributes to the UN's visibility and advocacy efforts in Turkmenistan by visually representing its work and impact.
Responsibilities
The photographer will be responsible for capturing high-quality professional photographs at various UN events, meetings, field visits, high-level visits, official ceremonies, and programme activities, including human-interest stories. This involves pre-shoot preparation, including reviewing briefs and coordinating logistics. The role requires ensuring a diverse mix of shots (action, portraits, contextual, wide) and adhering to UN ethical standards, including consent and dignity of subjects. Post-production duties include editing, colour-correcting, and optimizing images for web, social media, print, and reports. Deliverables include curated photo sets with captions and metadata, submitted within agreed timelines, and ensuring proper file naming, cataloguing, and archiving. Compliance with UN branding, visibility, consent, and confidentiality requirements is essential.
Work Experience
At least 10 years of relevant experience in photography and photo editing is required. Experience producing human-centered and documentary-style content, as well as content for digital and social media platforms, is desirable. The ability to work with sensitivity to context, reputational considerations, and clearance requirements is also necessary.
