Communication Consultant

Organizational Context

The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) seeks a Communication Consultant to enhance the goAML program's communications, outreach, and advocacy. This role, reporting to the Business Relationship Manager, will focus on improving the visibility and knowledge sharing of goAML initiatives within the UN Secretariat.

Job Purpose

The Communication Consultant will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to support the goAML program. This includes creating and disseminating advocacy materials, organizing events, preparing briefing materials for senior officials, and developing a tailored communications plan for the goAML International User Group Meeting. The role aims to enhance goAML's visibility, facilitate knowledge sharing among member states, and ensure effective communication across its website and social media platforms, contributing to the program's overall success and reach.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include updating and disseminating the goAML brochure to enhance visibility and knowledge sharing. The consultant will prepare briefing materials, web stories, and social media content for significant events such as the Netherlands Strategic Meeting and the ECOFEL/UNODC Virtual Assets Training. A primary duty involves developing a detailed communications plan for the 11th goAML International User Group Meeting, including producing related briefings and digital content. Additionally, the role requires maintaining and updating the goAML website and its social media accounts to ensure consistent and effective communication.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or public administration is required. Desirable experience includes user-centric outreach, public relations, web design, communication within the UN System, organizing promotional events, preparing advocacy materials, and social media management. Experience with data analytics or UNODC is also desirable.
