Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan (ROCA), based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, supports five Central Asian countries in addressing challenges related to drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism. ROCA focuses on strengthening the rule of law, improving border security, and advancing evidence-based approaches to drug and crime issues.
Job Purpose
This internship provides crucial support to the UNODC ROCA in implementing activities within the UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-2027. The intern will assist in organizing events, developing communication materials, conducting research on science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development, and supporting operational tasks. This role contributes to strengthening strategic engagement with UN system partners and enhancing the effectiveness of UNODC's regional programs aimed at reducing drug trafficking, combating organized crime, and preventing violent extremism, thereby supporting governance, justice, health, and security frameworks across Central Asia.
Responsibilities
Provide support for the organization of meetings, events, and conferences to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners. Assist in processing, drafting, and finalizing training materials. Support social media campaigns and develop communication materials highlighting good practices and achievements. Collect and analyze data on science, technology, innovation, and sustainable development issues through web research. Add data to relevant databases. Offer support in operational areas including finance, procurement, human resources, and general administration. Assist with archiving by preparing, registering, and updating records of procurement materials.
Work Experience

Candidates must demonstrate a keen interest in the UN's work and a commitment to its ideals, along with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
