The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Moldova seeks a consultant to research early and child marriages within Roma communities. Job Purpose
The consultant's purpose is to conduct in-depth research on early and child marriages in Moldova's Roma communities, examining prevalence, causes, perceptions, and consequences. This involves developing a robust, human rights-based, gender-responsive, and culturally sensitive research methodology and associated tools. The role requires providing technical expertise throughout the data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation phases. The findings will inform strategies and interventions, contributing to the protection of children and vulnerable individuals within these communities. The research will be conducted remotely, with supervision from the OHCHR.
Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive research methodology, including defining objectives, conceptual framework, data sources, sampling, ethical safeguards, and an analysis plan for qualitative and quantitative data. Create and refine research tools such as questionnaires and interview guides. Validate the methodology and tools with project stakeholders. Analyze and interpret collected data, providing inputs on findings and reviewing draft analytical products. Formulate evidence-based recommendations for interventions. Present the research methodology and key findings during public dissemination events, ensuring appropriate safeguards for participants.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of professional experience in sociology, social research, research methodology, or human rights. Proven experience in developing research methodologies and data collection tools, conducting research on early child marriage, and qualitative research methods is essential. Experience working with Roma communities is also required.
