Job Purpose
This role supports the Sustainable Mobility Unit's Used EVs and Battery end-of-Life Programme, addressing the growing challenge of managing end-of-life EV batteries in low- and middle-income countries. The purpose is to assist in developing national and regional action plans and policies for responsible battery management, including repair, reuse, repurposing, and recycling. The role contributes to establishing national frameworks for used EV imports and regional systems for battery collection and processing, aligning with UNEP's broader goals for cleaner air and climate change mitigation through sustainable mobility solutions.
Responsibilities
The candidate will provide project management support to the Used EVs and Battery end-of-Life Programme. Key duties include developing work plans and progress reports, supporting event management for the Global Partnership on EV Battery Circularity, and finalizing/publishing reports on used EV import standards, a regulatory toolbox, and EV battery chemical impacts. Responsibilities also involve securing speakers for workshops and subregional meetings on battery end-of-life, developing implementation plans and tender outlines for grant processes in various regions, and reviewing project proposals and policy development outputs related to e-mobility and battery end-of-life. The role includes representing the SMU in webinars and reviewing project outputs.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of work experience in project management is required. Experience in analytical, presentation, and communication skills is necessary. Knowledge of sustainable mobility is required. Desirable experience includes expertise in Circularity or EV Battery end-of-Life, stakeholder management, and data collection/research.
