International Consultant - Sustainability Capacity Support for Business Support Organizations (BSOs) in ASEAN

Organizational Context

The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, supports developing countries in trade. The EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package (SCOPE) – Trade project aims to improve sustainable connectivity between the EU and ASEAN, focusing on trade, economic connectivity, and sustainable value chains through improved regulatory frameworks and institutional capacities.

Job Purpose

This role supports the EU-ASEAN SCOPE – Trade project by enhancing the capacity of Business Support Organizations (BSOs) in the ASEAN region to integrate sustainability into their services for MSMEs. The consultant will design and deliver a Masterclass, provide follow-up advisory support, and develop training materials. The ultimate goal is to enable BSOs to cascade sustainability knowledge and tools, fostering scalability and long-term impact across ASEAN, thereby improving sustainable value chains and economic connectivity.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver a four-day Masterclass on sustainability for selected regional BSOs, covering ESG integration, responsible business conduct, and performance measurement. Conduct a training needs assessment to tailor the Masterclass content. Develop comprehensive training materials, including curriculum, exercises, and case studies. Provide follow-up advisory support and coaching to BSOs to facilitate the implementation of sustainability concepts and the development of national training plans. Submit a final report detailing activities, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for scaling and sustainability of the initiative.

Work Experience

A minimum of eight years of professional experience in sustainability, responsible business conduct, ESG integration, or sustainable value chain development is required. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering capacity-building programs, particularly for Business Support Organizations and MSMEs, is essential. Experience working within the ASEAN region is preferred.
