Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport personnel, including the UNDCO Regional Director, and general cargo. This includes making deliveries to various offices and institutions, performing minor purchases, collecting goods from customs, and meeting official personnel at the airport. The role also provides logistical support for protocol-related processes, assists with customs formalities, and ensures the day-to-day maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles. The driver must log fuel consumption and maintenance, and follow procedures in case of accidents, applying good judgment in all assignments.
Responsibilities
Safely drive vehicles for personnel and cargo transport. Make deliveries of parcels and documents between offices and external institutions. Conduct minor purchases and collect urgent items from local suppliers. Handle customs clearance for goods, including payments. Meet and assist official personnel at the airport. Provide logistical support for protocol-related processes with host country authorities. Perform daily vehicle maintenance, including checks on oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires. Arrange for minor repairs and ensure vehicle cleanliness. Report any damage or loss of vehicle tools. Maintain logs for fuel consumption and maintenance. Adhere to procedures in case of accidents. Apply good judgment in assigned tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive, responsible driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans, is necessary. Experience with the United Nations or other international organizations is desirable.
