Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), part of the UN Secretariat, is seeking consultants to develop an Integrated Asset Information System. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing key modules for interoperability, reporting, and statistics, contributing to enhanced data management and system functionality within the organization.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the development and implementation of an Integrated Asset Information System by designing, developing, and testing interoperability, reporting, and statistics modules. This involves gathering requirements, defining architecture, developing web services and APIs, implementing security measures, integrating with existing databases, and creating dynamic reports and dashboards. The role also includes preparing technical documentation and user training materials to ensure the successful deployment and adoption of the system, ultimately enhancing UNODC's data management capabilities and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include gathering and analyzing functional and technical requirements from user departments. The role involves designing the architecture for interoperability, reporting, and statistics modules, including data flows, integration strategies, and information structures. Standardization of data sources, structures, and exchange protocols (web services, APIs) is crucial. Development and implementation of web services for automated information exchange and robust information security mechanisms are required. Integration with the SIIB database to ensure data consistency and availability is a core task. The role also entails developing functionalities for dynamic, customizable reports, designing data processes for statistics generation, and implementing dashboards with key indicators and trend analysis. Finally, executing comprehensive tests, validating results, and preparing technical documentation and user training are essential duties.

Work Experience

A minimum of 3 years of demonstrable professional experience in IT and/or systems development is required. Experience in data integration, information security, project management, or business intelligence is also required. Programming skills in JavaScript, PostgreSQL, and Vue.js are desirable.
