Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the UNEP Nature, Youth and Advocacy team's initiatives in youth and education, focusing on key projects like the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge, Sport for Nature, and Playing for the Planet. The consultant will contribute to scaling up existing programs and delivering new work, engaging with diverse partners from formal higher education to non-formal organizations like Girl Guides and Scouts, and the video gaming sector. The aim is to extend the reach of environmental education to a broad audience and ensure the efficient and effective delivery of complex global projects, fostering innovation and achieving maximum impact.
Responsibilities
The consultant will contribute to the UNEP Nature, Youth and Advocacy team's work on youth and education projects, including the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge, Sport for Nature, and Playing for the Planet. This involves supporting the scaling-up of the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge and the delivery of work on the other named initiatives. The role requires engaging with formal and non-formal education partners, such as universities, Girl Guides, Scouts, and the video gaming industry, to broaden environmental education outreach. The consultant will be responsible for project design, ensuring buy-in and results, and efficiently delivering complex global projects. Additionally, the role involves bringing diverse individuals and partners together for collective programming and producing high-quality reports and proposals.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Demonstrated experience in designing projects that secure buy-in and deliver results, and in managing complex global projects efficiently is essential. Experience working with youth and youth organizations is also required.
