Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to facilitate a follow-up lessons learned exercise on cross-regional support and DCO/OCHA collaboration in the Arab States. The purpose is to assess the evolution of support mechanisms and regional collaboration in response to escalating regional challenges since January 2026. The role will capture key developments, identify emerging lessons, and provide recommendations to inform ongoing discussions and future coordination efforts, aligning with UN 2.0 priorities for coherence and innovation. The exercise will distill insights from evolving regional engagement and recommend a way forward for strengthened collaboration across UN pillars.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include designing and conducting structured online group discussions with key stakeholders from Secretariat offices, Resident Coordinators, and UN Agencies, Funds, and Programs at the regional level. The consultant will synthesize notes from these consultations, analyze findings, and prepare a concise update note (2-3 pages) detailing lessons learned and actionable recommendations. This output will inform ongoing regional discussions and future coordination efforts aimed at enhancing collaboration across humanitarian, development, political, and security actors within the Arab States region.
Work Experience
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding contexts is required. Proven expertise in facilitation, organizational learning, and lessons learned methodologies is essential. Strong analytical and drafting skills are also necessary.
Skills
Facilitation of structured online group discussions, analysis and synthesis of complex multi-stakeholder processes, organizational learning, lessons learned methodologies, strong analytical and drafting skills, fluency in English, knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
