The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority within the UN system. This internship is situated within the Digital Strategy Section of UNEP's Communication Division, which manages digital communications including social media, web content, internal communications, and the knowledge repository.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Digital Strategy Section in its communication activities. The intern will contribute to researching, drafting, and editing online content, managing meeting logistics, creating presentations, and assisting with digital strategy planning and special projects. Key contributions include supporting reporting and analytics, and potentially engaging in knowledge repository management and front/back-end Drupal development within an AWS environment, all under the guidance of the Chief of Digital Strategy.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for researching, compiling, drafting, and editing basic online content, often under tight deadlines. This includes reviewing and updating existing content to align with communication strategies. The role involves supporting reporting activities, analytics, and the creation of dashboards (e.g., PowerBI). Additionally, the intern will manage meeting agendas, draft meeting notes, create presentations and training materials, conduct research for digital strategy planning, and assist with special projects. Technical responsibilities may include contributing to knowledge repository clean-up, indexing, and potentially front-end/back-end Drupal development in an AWS environment.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship's focus. Familiarity with standard software applications like MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams is expected. Experience with Dspace is a plus.
