Senior Digital Innovation & AI Solution Expert Lead

Organizational Context

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency for human settlements, mandated to promote sustainable towns and cities for adequate shelter for all. The role sits within the Global Knowledge and Advocacy Division, specifically the Events and Outreach Unit, focusing on enhancing digital infrastructure and stakeholder engagement.

Job Purpose

This role provides strategic leadership in the design, governance, scaling, and continuous improvement of UN-Habitat’s digital ecosystem. The purpose is to enhance engagement with Member States, partners, and stakeholders through corporate events, outreach activities, and institutional processes. This includes advancing digital platforms like the corporate website, WUF web ecosystem, GEMS, and MIND, and identifying opportunities for digital transformation and AI adoption to optimize operations and user experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the strategic evolution, governance, and continuous improvement of UN-Habitat's digital platforms, including the corporate website, WUF web ecosystem, and stakeholder engagement platforms. Ensure interoperability and seamless integration across the digital ecosystem. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of consultants, developers, and specialists. Define product requirements, roadmaps, and digital service improvements. Incorporate inclusive and accessible web design standards. Collaborate on iterative development of GEMS v3.0, MIND v2.0, and other digital tools. Own product vision, roadmap prioritization, and stakeholder engagement. Identify opportunities for digital transformation and AI adoption. Collaborate on developing a UN-Habitat App. Monitor, maintain, and implement security patches and software updates. Provide technical expertise and thought leadership through workshops and presentations.

Work Experience

Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in web development, User Experience (UX) design, web best practices, responsive design, and digital strategy. Experience in innovative technical leadership, including planning, development, and multi-project management, is required.
