Intake Assessment Assistant
Organizational Context
UNRWA is a UN agency established in 1949, mandated to assist and protect approximately 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees across the Middle East. It provides essential services including education, healthcare, and social services, operating as the largest UN operation in the region with over 30,000 staff. The Intake Assessment Assistant role reports to the DIOS Intake Investigator.
Job Purpose
The Intake Assessment Assistant supports the Central Intake Unit (CIU) in managing the agency's misconduct intake process. This involves preparing written assessments of allegations, conducting information-based inquiries and interviews with diligence to ensure accuracy and impartiality, and supporting the UNRWA Hotline Officer in handling complaints. The role ensures all complaints are appropriately maintained and registered, and provides regular statistical updates on non-misconduct complaints. The position contributes to the efficient and fair administration of the misconduct assessment process, upholding due process requirements and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Assists the CIU Investigations Officer in organizing and administering the agency's misconduct intake process. Prepares and drafts written assessments of misconduct allegations, including breach of neutrality, clearly outlining available information. Conducts information-based inquiries and interviews, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy of evidence, and impartiality. Supports the UNRWA Hotline Officer in managing complaints across all field offices, ensuring proper maintenance and registration. Registers non-misconduct complaints in the designated registry and provides regular data statistics to the DIOS Investigation Officer. Performs other required tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
A university degree in a relevant field is required. Experience working within the United Nations system is desirable. Experience in intake or investigation-related disciplines is also considered desirable.
Skills

Skills in planning, organizing with attention to detail, analyzing, following instructions, and technological awareness (MS Office, databases). Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks.
