Organizational Context

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library, part of the UN Secretariat's Department of Global Communications in New York, supports the UN's mission by providing trusted information and knowledge. It serves Member State delegations, UN staff, researchers, and the public, facilitating access to and preservation of information crucial for the UN's work and principles.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the Dag Hammarskjöld Library's Outreach Division by assisting with data analysis, visualization, and presentation. The intern will contribute to understanding Key Performance Indicators and analyzing global consultations and surveys. This role provides a foundational experience in data management and communication within a key UN library, enhancing the dissemination of information and knowledge to support the organization's objectives and principles.

Responsibilities

Assist with data analysis, including cleaning and visualization, to prepare data for distribution. Focus on analyzing the Section’s Key Performance Indicators and global consultations/surveys. Liaise with team members to ensure clear communication and understanding of data points. Perform other related duties as required to support the library's operations and outreach initiatives. This role operates under the supervision of the Project Manager of the Office of the Chief Librarian.

Work Experience

No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a relevant academic background in data analysis or a related field is necessary. Familiarity with data analysis software and generative AI tools is advantageous.
