The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi, Italy, provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, and IT services worldwide. This role is within the Innovation and Infrastructure Support (IIS) Unit of the Supply Chain Service. The Engineer will support IIS engineering project delivery, including design, technical reviews, and the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital engineering practices under the supervision of the Team Leader.
Job Purpose
The Engineer (Project Delivery and BIM/Revit Specialist) will support the Innovation and Infrastructure Support (IIS) Unit at the UNGSC in Brindisi by contributing to engineering project delivery. This includes developing engineering designs, preparing technical documentation and solicitation packages, and conducting technical reviews. A key aspect of the role is to support and implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital engineering practices, including developing standards, workflows, and tools. The incumbent will also assist in training and knowledge transfer to enhance BIM capabilities within the IIS unit, ensuring efficient and high-quality project execution for various UNGSC and client entity needs.
Responsibilities
Support engineering project delivery activities, including assessments, development, design reviews, and preparation of drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and solicitation documents. Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for infrastructure, facilities, utilities, and security systems. Prepare comprehensive solicitation packages for procurement. Conduct technical reviews for UN Secretariat entities. Support engineering inspections, site assessments, and feasibility studies. Develop and maintain standardized engineering documentation, templates, and libraries. Implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologies and digital engineering practices, including multidisciplinary design coordination, clash detection, and quality assurance. Develop BIM/Revit standards, templates, object libraries, and workflows. Maintain and coordinate Autodesk Revit models for projects. Support the development of digital engineering solutions and knowledge management tools. Provide training and knowledge transfer on BIM and digital engineering best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in engineering design, architectural design, project delivery, or construction projects is required. Three years of practical experience at a proficiency level in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for design and BIM model development is required. Experience with BIM coordination tools, model management, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination is desirable.
