Electromechanical Engineer
Organizational Context
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi, Italy, provides essential Supply Chain, Geospatial, and IT services to UN entities worldwide. This role is within the Innovation and Infrastructure Support (IIS) Unit of the Supply Chain Service. The Electromechanical Engineer will support IIS activities related to electrical infrastructure, power systems, and energy initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Electromechanical Engineer will provide critical expertise to the Innovation and Infrastructure Support (IIS) Unit at the UN Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi, Italy. This role supports the planning, design, and implementation of electrical and mechanical systems for various UN projects, including permanent structures, ISO containers, and prefabricated buildings. The engineer will contribute to technical evaluations, develop design documents, and ensure compliance with UN standards and sustainable energy practices. The position aims to enhance the delivery of engineering project services and support energy-related initiatives, ensuring efficient and effective infrastructure development for UN missions and entities globally.
Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and executive design documents for mechanical and electrical systems for UNGSC projects, including structures and facilities. Provide electromechanical engineering expertise for project delivery, including technical advisory, assessments, and design reviews. Create standardized electrical/mechanical documentation packages for outsourcing, emphasizing sustainable energy. Develop solicitation documents, technical specifications, scopes of work, bills of quantities, cost estimations, and drawings for project planning and procurement. Define requirements for infrastructure, energy systems, and operational support projects, including power generation, distribution, HVAC, and renewable energy solutions. Support renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives. Conduct technical reviews, inspections, and commissioning activities. Evaluate offers and analyze bids for engineering services and equipment.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in electrical or mechanical engineering is required. Additionally, at least one year of experience in planning, designing, and documenting electrical and mechanical systems (including HVAC and building automation) is necessary. Proficiency in MS Office and CAD drawings is required. Experience with specific electrical design software is desirable.
