The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. This position is within UNEP's Industry and Economy Division, Materials and Systems Innovation Unit in Nairobi. The Unit focuses on sustainable materials management and circular economy. The role provides administrative, financial, and legal support for project activities, ensuring compliance with UN rules and regulations.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality administrative, financial, and legal support to ensure the compliant, efficient, and timely implementation of project activities within UNEP's Industry and Economy Division. This involves safeguarding institutional integrity by aligning all contracts, budgets, travel logistics, and documentation with UN rules and regulations. The role optimizes operational support for project partners and stakeholders, contributing to the Division's objective of promoting sustainable patterns of consumption and production, efficient resource use, and sound chemical management. The incumbent ensures rigorous budget and contract monitoring, flawless execution of logistics, and accurate maintenance of project documentation.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality administrative, financial, and legal support for project activities. Ensure compliant, efficient, and timely implementation of projects. Safeguard institutional integrity by aligning contracts, budgets, travel logistics, and documentation with UN rules and regulations. Optimize operational support for project partners and stakeholders. Conduct rigorous budget and contract monitoring in accordance with UN rules. Ensure flawless execution of meeting and travel logistics. Maintain accurate, audit-ready project documentation. Support decision-makers in government, industry, and the finance sector through the provision of evidence-based policies and practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required, including working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and administering financial documents and contracts. Proven experience in organizing large inter-governmental meetings is required. Experience in finance and prior work with the UN or international organizations are desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Professionalism, Teamwork, Planning and Organizing.
