The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) through UN-OHRLLS, is enhancing its advocacy and outreach efforts. This role is within the Advocacy and Outreach Unit, reporting to the Head of the Unit, to support preparations for the Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for strengthening UN-OHRLLS' digital communications, branding, and outreach capabilities. The primary purpose is to support the Midterm Review (MTR) of the Doha Programme of Action by redesigning the LDC-V conference website, enhancing the UN-OHRLLS corporate website with updated content and improved performance, and producing digital and multimedia advocacy materials. The contractor will help raise global awareness of the Doha Programme of Action and the challenges faced by Least Developed Countries, fostering engagement with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include redesigning and launching a fully functional LDC-V conference website with improved UX/UI and information architecture. This also involves enhancing the UN-OHRLLS corporate website with updated content, better navigation, and optimized performance, including ongoing maintenance. Additionally, the role requires the production of a suite of digital and multimedia advocacy materials, such as infographics, videos, and social media assets, to support MTR outreach campaigns. The contractor will work within the Advocacy and Outreach Unit, reporting to the Head of the Unit.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, strategic communications, or web development is required. Experience with international organizations and knowledge management platforms is highly desirable. Prior experience within the United Nations system is considered an asset.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Advanced expertise in website content management systems (especially Drupal). Proficiency with graphic design and multimedia software (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva). Solid understanding of digital communications strategies, UX design, and accessibility standards.
