Job Purpose
This internship within the DESA Economic Analysis and Policy Division (EAPD), Development Research Branch, offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to research and policy analysis on economic and social development. The intern will support the Branch's projects, focusing on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Key contributions include conducting background research, literature reviews, drafting inputs for various outputs, and performing quantitative data analysis. The role also involves assisting with capacity-building activities, communication efforts, and supporting team tasks such as information requests, presentation development, and meeting support, providing practical experience in economic affairs and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The intern will conduct research for outputs related to economic and social development, with a strong emphasis on the 2030 Agenda. Key duties include preparing background research, conducting literature reviews, and drafting inputs for various publications and projects. The role involves quantitative data analysis, which includes identifying, collecting, and visualizing data from primary and secondary sources. Additionally, the intern will assist in implementing capacity-building activities and communication strategies. Support for the team's daily tasks is also expected, encompassing servicing information requests, aiding in the development of presentations, supporting meetings, and updating databases.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a strong academic background in a relevant field is essential. Desirable experience includes the use of large-scale datasets and descriptive statistics.
