PROGRAMME ASSISTANT (SAVING LIVES TOGETHER ASSOCIATE)
Organizational Context
The Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) globally leads and supports the UN security management system, enabling safe and effective UN program delivery in challenging environments. This role is within the Division of Field Operations in Yangon, Myanmar, focusing on the Saving Lives Together (SLT) framework to enhance security collaboration with UN and non-UN partners. The position reports to the Chief Security Adviser (CSA).
Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Saving Lives Together (SLT) programme in Myanmar, under the guidance of the Chief Security Adviser (CSA). This involves assisting with program planning and implementation activities, researching and analyzing program data, coordinating project proposals and budgets, and monitoring project progress. The role also includes liaising with various units to facilitate project implementation, managing project documentation, drafting correspondence, and preparing reports. The assistant will contribute to data analysis, information sharing, and the updating of informational materials, ultimately supporting the safe and effective delivery of UN programs by strengthening security collaboration.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Saving Lives Together (SLT) programme. Key duties include assisting with program and project activities, researching and analyzing program data, coordinating project planning and proposal submissions, and managing budget proposals and analysis. The role involves monitoring and evaluating projects, tracking data, and reporting on expenditures. The assistant will act as a focal point for coordinating project implementation, liaising with diverse organizational units, and resolving related administrative issues such as travel and procurement. Responsibilities also include maintaining files and databases, generating reports, drafting correspondence, and assisting with data analysis and the preparation of informational materials.
Work Experience
Seven years of work experience in security, risk, disaster, or emergency areas is required. This requirement is reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) is mandatory. Experience within the UN system or an international NGO, and in security coordination, information management, or training support, is desirable.
