Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat's Enterprise Application Center in Bangkok, hosted by UNESCAP, develops and supports in-house enterprise applications. This role is within this center, focusing on Oracle and MS-SQL databases to ensure high performance and stability for corporate systems.
Job Purpose
This role serves to provide expert technical expertise in Oracle and MS-SQL database administration, focusing on PeopleSoft systems. The purpose is to ensure the optimal performance, stability, and availability of critical enterprise applications by performing comprehensive monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and support. The consultant will also contribute to building the capacity of the internal UN Secretariat team by sharing external experience and advising on best practices for database management and application support, ensuring seamless operations and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing technical expertise for Oracle and MS SQL database servers, developing performance tuning and maintenance plans, and offering end-to-end PeopleSoft administration and support. This involves performing installations, upgrades, patching, and environment refreshes, as well as managing customizations. The role requires conducting performance tuning, system monitoring, and troubleshooting, with on-call production support to ensure system stability. Collaboration with development teams on integrations, expert-level root cause analysis, and advising developers on technical challenges are crucial. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining shell scripts for automation, managing virtual machines and servers, and supporting PUM upgrades, PeopleTools patching/upgrades, and DR testing.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience as a PeopleSoft Administrator is required. Experience in Oracle and MS-SQL database administration, troubleshooting, and optimization is essential. Experience with virtual machines, Windows servers, and Linux servers, including installation and configuration, is also necessary.
