The United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism) is based in The Hague, Netherlands, and Arusha, Tanzania. Job Purpose
This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in research, public information, and community outreach within the field of international criminal justice. The intern will support the Mechanism Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) in its mission to inform and support communities affected by past conflicts. By contributing to various communication projects, the intern will help raise awareness, foster understanding, and support reconciliation efforts related to war crimes. This role is crucial for disseminating information about the ongoing work and legacy of the ICTY and IRMCT, ensuring historical accountability and promoting peace.
Responsibilities
The intern will collaborate closely with MIP staff to support communication projects. Key duties include conducting legal research using ICTY/IRMCT databases, drafting various documents and publications, and contributing ideas for public information products such as videos and online exhibitions. The role involves assisting with social media campaigns to raise awareness about the legacy of the ICTY and IRMCT, and supporting media monitoring efforts. Additionally, the intern will draft correspondence, newsletters, news items, brochures, talking points, and presentations. Responsibilities also extend to attending meetings, preparing minutes, and assisting in the organization of online events like lectures and workshops.
