The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the WTO and UN, supports SME internationalization. Based in Geneva, ITC implements the SCOPE-Trade Project to enhance sustainable connectivity within ASEAN and between ASEAN and the EU, focusing on trade, economic links, and sustainable value chains. This role supports Output 3 of the project.
Job Purpose
This role serves to develop and consolidate the ASEAN Catalogue of Circular Products, Services and Policy Frameworks. The Catalogue is a crucial regional reference tool designed to assist policymakers and stakeholders in understanding and implementing circular economy practices across ASEAN Member States. The purpose is to provide a structured and comparable overview of existing practices, supporting mechanisms, and enabling frameworks, thereby contributing to the project's objective of improving regulatory environments and capacities for sustainable value chains within ASEAN.
Responsibilities
The Lead Consultant is responsible for refining the Catalogue's structure and narrative in consultation with ITC, ensuring alignment with ASEAN policy priorities. This includes reviewing and synthesizing analytical inputs from subject matter experts, ensuring consistency in terminology and presentation, and coordinating to address information gaps. The consultant will draft the full ASEAN Catalogue, ensuring clear, structured, and comparable presentation of information across Member States. Responsibilities also include preparing presentation materials, supporting stakeholder consultations, revising the draft based on feedback, and finalizing the manuscript for publication. The role involves close collaboration with the ITC project team and other consultants.
Work Experience
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in policy research, trade and sustainable development, or circular economy is required. Demonstrated experience in drafting analytical reports and policy publications for international organizations is necessary. Proven experience synthesizing complex technical inputs from multiple experts is essential. Experience in circular economy, sustainable value chains, or environmental policy is highly desirable.
Skills
Strong analytical understanding of circular economy concepts, sustainable production/consumption, and trade-related sustainability issues. Excellent drafting, editing, and synthesis skills for high-quality publications. Ability to translate complex technical material into clear, structured narratives. Strong coordination and communication skills for working with multiple experts and stakeholders.
