Human Resources Intern
Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa aims to deliver transformative ideas and actions for Africa, guided by the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. This internship is within the Organization Development Unit (ODU) of the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS), supporting the Administration and Conference Management Division (ACMD). The role operates under direct supervision.
Job Purpose
This internship assignment within the Organization Development Unit (ODU) of the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS) at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) provides a six-month opportunity to contribute to HR initiatives. The intern will support various projects under the guidance of senior staff, gaining practical experience in human resources management. The role is designed to assist in the verification of learning needs, maintenance of induction programs, language center support, HR dashboard development, administrative tasks for HR projects, reporting for training and performance management, logistics for learning programs, and drafting communications. This position offers a chance to contribute to the ECA's mission of fostering an empowered and transformed Africa through knowledge and policy development.
Responsibilities
Assist in the 2027 Learning Needs verification by developing surveys and collecting data. Monitor and follow up on the update and maintenance of the O-Induction programme. Support the language center by tracking and recording attendance for language courses. Contribute to the design and improvement of HR dashboards by organizing and presenting HR-related statistical information. Provide administrative support for the implementation and follow-up of ongoing HR projects. Support reporting requirements for mandatory training and performance management. Assist with logistics for learning programs and workshops. Draft internal communications, training announcements, and knowledge-sharing materials. Compile periodic and post-training reports. Perform other tasks as assigned by the head of the unit.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is explicitly required for this internship. However, candidates are encouraged to include any past work experiences in their application profile. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered an advantage.
