The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) hosts the Beyond Lab, operating under the Director-General's office. This internship focuses on sustainable development and innovative approaches. Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in sustainable development, project management, and international relations within the UN Secretariat at UNOG. The intern will support the Beyond Lab's activities, contributing to research on sustainability concepts, assisting in project implementation, and engaging with stakeholders. Key contributions include synthesizing research for policy briefs, supporting event organization, developing communication materials, and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships. The role is designed to offer hands-on experience in applying innovative strategies and design thinking to drive transformative impact in sustainable development, preparing the intern for future roles in the field.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on sustainable development concepts and trends to inform innovative approaches. Assist in policy and programming discussions, synthesizing research insights for briefing materials, reports, and correspondence. Support project management activities, including the development and implementation of key initiatives. Organize and facilitate events, workshops, and convening activities for stakeholder engagement. Prepare narrative reports for partners and contribute to reporting requirements. Identify opportunities to apply social innovation, design thinking, and futures thinking to projects. Plan and facilitate team ideation sessions for prototyping and iterating ideas. Develop promotional materials and content for communication platforms, including website and social media. Assist in drafting and editing content, and create visuals using tools like Canva. Participate in meetings with diverse stakeholders and assist in partnership-building efforts.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is strictly required for this internship. However, any experience in programme management, social innovation, research and policy analysis, communications, stakeholder engagement, or multi-stakeholder partnerships is highly desirable and should be detailed in the application.
