Organizational Context
The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland, hosts this internship. Job Purpose
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the critical work of the Women Human Rights and Gender Section (WHRGS) at OHCHR. The intern will support efforts to protect and promote women's human rights and gender equality by assisting in the analysis of discriminatory laws and policies, promoting gender integration across UN activities, and supporting the development of reports, tools, and training materials. The role involves facilitating dialogue with stakeholders and contributing to the advancement of the women's human rights agenda through research and practical support.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Women Human Rights and Gender Section (WHRGS) in its mandate to protect and promote women's human rights and gender equality. Key duties include assisting in the identification and analysis of discriminatory laws and policies, and ensuring their alignment with international human rights law. The intern will contribute to promoting gender integration within OHCHR and broader UN planning. Responsibilities also encompass supporting the development of thematic reports, statements, and tools related to women's human rights and gender equality. Additionally, the intern will assist in conducting training and capacity-building activities, facilitating dialogue among stakeholders, and supporting the development of networks with experts and civil society organizations, including women human rights defenders.
