Management and Programme Analyst
Organizational Context
This role is within the Enterprise Risk Management Section of the Accountability Service, part of the Business Transformation and Accountability Division in the UN Secretariat's Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance. The position focuses on implementing enterprise risk management across the global Secretariat, with an emphasis on digital solutions like the Umoja Risk Management module and data analysis.
Job Purpose
The Management and Programme Analyst is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of enterprise risk management (ERM) programs and projects across the UN Secretariat. This includes analyzing program development, identifying issues, proposing solutions, and liaising with relevant parties. The role involves conducting consulting assignments, facilitating workshops, and assisting clients in change management. It also requires research, policy development support, survey initiatives, data analysis, and preparing various written outputs. The analyst will provide substantive support for meetings, conduct outreach activities, deliver training on ERM and Umoja Risk Management, and contribute to defining and maintaining the ERM framework and its methodologies, including risk registers and treatment plans.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include participating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of enterprise risk management (ERM) programs and projects at both Secretariat and entity levels. This involves monitoring and analyzing program development, reviewing documents, identifying issues, and proposing corrective actions. The role entails conducting consulting assignments, facilitating workshops, and developing action plans for change management. Researching, analyzing, and presenting information from diverse sources is crucial, as is assisting in ERM policy development and reviewing best practices. The analyst will design data collection tools, analyze survey responses, and prepare written outputs such as background papers and reports. Providing substantive support for meetings, conducting outreach, and delivering training on ERM and Umoja Risk Management are also key duties. The position supports the definition and maintenance of the ERM framework, methodologies, and practices, including risk registers and treatment plans, and involves data collection and analysis for trend identification and reporting using visualization methods.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in enterprise risk management, project/programme management, or administration is required. Essential experience includes applying ERM frameworks with system-based tools (e.g., ERP/SAP/Umoja), data analysis, and reporting using dashboards. Experience supporting user adoption, training, or knowledge management tools is also required. Two or more years of experience in data analytics is desirable.
