Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the implementation phase of the GEF-8 Integrated Programme on eliminating hazardous chemicals from supply chains. The consultant will provide specialized technical support in communications, stakeholder engagement, knowledge management, and programme coordination. Key contributions include implementing the communications strategy and action plan, facilitating information exchange across eight country projects, and enhancing programme visibility and external engagement. The role operates under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, Chemicals Science and Policy Unit, contributing to informed decision-making and the sound management of chemicals and waste globally.
Responsibilities
The consultant will implement the 2026 Communications Action Plan and strategy, including supporting visual identity development and coordinating social media channels. Responsibilities include developing communication packages and content for various materials (news articles, videos, social media posts), and monitoring communication channel effectiveness. The role involves supporting the establishment of a knowledge management platform by coordinating content provision. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate information exchange among eight country projects, coordinate communications and knowledge management networks, and support stakeholder outreach and engagement activities. This includes coordinating external visibility and outreach for programme events and identifying opportunities for high-level stakeholder engagement.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, project/programme management, knowledge management, or chemicals/waste management is required. Experience in implementing and coordinating communications strategies for international programmes, developing communication materials, and coordinating stakeholder engagement across multiple projects or countries is essential. Experience with GEF-funded projects and familiarity with hazardous chemicals in supply chains or circular economy topics are desirable.
