IT Consultant (Systems maintenance and database management)

Organizational Context

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) seeks an IT Consultant to support the ASYCUDA systems in the Central Asia region. This role is home-based and contributes to the efficient technical maintenance and upgrades of critical IT infrastructure for trade facilitation in transition economies.

Job Purpose

The IT Consultant will ensure the efficient technical maintenance and upgrades of UNCTAD ASYCUDA systems within the Central Asia region. This involves managing and operating servers, networks, and related infrastructure, and supporting national teams with hardware and software installations, development, and upgrades for ASYCUDA components. The role also includes implementing integrations with technical control equipment, generating reports, resolving technical issues, and delivering advanced technical training to national teams to ensure project objectives are met and systems operate effectively for import-export operations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include the ICT and database maintenance of servers, networks, and critical infrastructure for ASYCUDA systems in transition economies. The consultant will support national teams with hardware installation and software development, installation, and upgrades for ASYCUDA components like E-Borders and e-Commerce. This also involves implementing integrations with technical control equipment, generating operational and statistical reports as requested, and ensuring timely resolution of all logged technical problems. Additionally, the role requires ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met within scope and time, and providing advanced technical training to national technical teams.

Work Experience

A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in the ICT sector is required. Experience in designing, developing, testing, and piloting complex ICT applications is essential. Experience providing IT services to government organizations for import-export operations or working in the public sector, as well as experience with international ICT projects, is desirable.
