Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UNEP New York Office in raising environmental awareness and promoting policy change through various communication activities. The intern will assist in developing content, implementing campaigns, coordinating events, producing multimedia materials, and engaging with stakeholders, partners, and media. The role contributes to integrating the environmental dimension into global discussions at UN Headquarters and linking environmental outcomes with intergovernmental processes. The internship is for six months, full-time, with potential for remote work.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Public Information Officer in a range of communication tasks. This includes generating content ideas and social media strategies, contributing to global campaign activities, and planning/coordinating meetings and key events. Responsibilities also involve producing graphics and multimedia content, assisting with media outreach and press briefings, monitoring and updating websites, and preparing reports and presentations. Additionally, the intern will support outreach to partners, attend and report on relevant meetings, maintain contact databases, and assist with general office coordination tasks such as managing mailing lists and shared drives.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, relevant experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in IT applications and design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva is considered an asset.
