Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator System (RCS) in Mauritius and Seychelles operates as a multi-country office, coordinating UN development activities. The UNRC leads the UN Country Team (UNCT), focusing on strategic analysis, planning, and implementing the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). This internship supports the RCS's mandate to enhance UN coherence and impact through policy research, advocacy, and communications.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience within the UN development system, specifically supporting the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Mauritius and Seychelles. The role contributes to enhancing UN system coherence and improving programme impact by assisting with policy research, advocacy, communications, and coordination efforts. The intern will learn about UN agency functions, country programming processes, and intergovernmental interactions, particularly during the critical implementation phase of the UNSDCF 2024-2028, contributing to the achievement of national development priorities.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the policy, advocacy, and communications activities of the RCO and UNCT. Key duties include conducting research on policies, regulations, and laws relevant to UNSDCF focus areas, and performing background research and analysis to support UN positioning and engagement with national counterparts. The role involves assisting in drafting policy briefs and reports. Additionally, the intern will support the preparation of advocacy materials, communication products, and visibility efforts for UN campaigns and events. Coordination with government counterparts, UN agencies, and civil society is required, along with assisting in organizing meetings, workshops, and events, and managing logistical preparations and follow-up actions.
