Communications Assistant (Videographer/photographer)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) supports sustainable development and regional cooperation. The External Relations and Communications Section (ERC) promotes ESCWA's work and visibility. This role, as a Communications Assistant (Videographer/Photographer), sits within ERC to enhance outreach and engagement through high-quality visual content.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to produce high-quality visual and multimedia content that effectively showcases ESCWA's activities, achievements, and impact. This content will enhance the organization's visibility, outreach, and engagement with member States, partners, media, and the public. The Videographer/Photographer will be responsible for capturing, editing, and producing various forms of visual media, including videos and photographs, to support ESCWA's communication objectives and outreach campaigns. The role contributes to strengthening ESCWA's brand and public perception through compelling storytelling and effective digital presence.
Responsibilities
Capture high-quality video footage and professional photography of conferences, meetings, workshops, official visits, and other ESCWA events. Ensure high-quality audio recording for interviews, speeches, and live events. Set up, operate, and maintain lighting, audio, and camera equipment. Plan and execute multi-camera productions and livestreaming when required. Conduct comprehensive video editing and post-production, including color correction, sound mixing, subtitling, motion graphics, and final rendering. Produce various multimedia products such as highlight videos, promotional videos, testimonials, documentaries, and social media reels. Conceptualize and develop storyboards, shot lists, and production plans for multimedia projects. Support communication and outreach campaigns with engaging visual content. Manage and maintain ESCWA’s digital multimedia archive, ensuring proper organization, cataloguing, and metadata entry. Monitor multimedia trends and recommend innovative approaches for digital storytelling.
Work Experience
A minimum of 15 years of professional work experience in photography and media is required. Experience in an international setting is desirable.
Skills
Professional photography and videography, audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, video editing and post-production (color correction, sound mixing, subtitling, motion graphics, visual effects), multimedia production, storyboarding, shot listing, production planning, digital asset management, content creation for various platforms (including social media), technical support for events, understanding of UN/ESCWA branding and communication guidelines.
