The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. The Climate Change Division, specifically the Sustainable Investments Unit, focuses on mobilizing investments for climate mitigation and resilient development. This role is based in Paris, France, and supports key initiatives like the Digital Demand Driven Electricity Networks Initiative (3DEN) and the Enabling Pledge Implementation for Cooling (EPIC) Deploy.
Job Purpose
This role provides essential coordination support to UNEP's Sustainable Investments Unit, contributing to the implementation and scaling of critical climate initiatives such as 3DEN and EPIC Deploy. The purpose is to facilitate project activities, stakeholder engagement, and the mobilization of investments for climate mitigation and resilient development. The position supports the transition towards a low-carbon pathway by assisting in project concept development, proposal drafting, fundraising, data analysis, and reporting, ultimately contributing to UNEP's Climate Stability Outcome.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing project coordination and monitoring support for the 3DEN and EPIC Deploy initiatives, including partner due diligence and engagement. The role involves supporting communications, event management, and outreach activities for pilot projects. Additionally, the position will assist with budget tracking, financial reporting, and ensuring alignment with UNEP's finance protocols. Other duties include developing new project concepts, drafting proposals, supporting fundraising and donor mapping, and contributing to data collection, analysis, and reporting for the Sustainable Investments Unit.
Work Experience
Prior experience in project management and coordination support for climate finance and mitigation-related activities is considered an asset. Experience working with UN agencies, particularly focusing on climate change and finance, is desirable.
