The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. UNEP FI is a strategic partnership between the UN and over 500 financial institutions, driving the international sustainable finance agenda. It promotes alignment with the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on areas like pollution and circular economy.

Job Purpose

This consultancy role supports the UNEP FI Pollution and Circular Economy team by providing essential editorial and proofreading services for key publications. The consultant will ensure the quality and clarity of guidance documents related to circular economy financing and biodiversity taxonomy. This work contributes to UNEP FI's mission of shaping sustainable finance practices and helping the financial industry align with global environmental goals, such as the Paris Agreement and SDGs, by producing accessible and accurate knowledge products for policymakers and financial institutions.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to deliver comprehensive editing and proofreading services for five publications. This includes light editing for two sectoral circular economy financing guidelines (buildings/construction, minerals/metals) and a summary for financial institutions of an International Resource Panel report on financing energy transition minerals. Additionally, the consultant will perform copyediting and proofreading for a GACERE-UNEP FI guidance document on unlocking circular economy financing and for the Latin America & Caribbean Common Taxonomy for Biodiversity. These tasks ensure the accuracy, clarity, and professional quality of critical knowledge products.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required, particularly in communications within the financial services sector, NGOs, academic organizations, standard-setting bodies, or public agencies focused on sustainability and financial sector regulation. Experience with corporate responsibility and sustainable finance communications is highly desired.
